Actress Okamoto Natsuki revealed that she went to Ishinomaki-shi, Miyagi Prefecture to bring relief goods on her blog "Jinsei gachinko sugiru wa yo (Life’s full of serious challenge)" on May 10. Also on her blog on the following day, May 11, she asked what kind of goods will be necessary in future.
On May 5, Okamoto carried out "Okamoto Natsuki' s seventh solo donation campaign" and collected relief goods too. Also, many other relief goods were sent to Okamoto who had been appealing for relief goods before.
She went to Ishinomaki-shi, Miyagi Prefecture with her friends to bring the relief goods. The situation at that time is reported on her blog.
Okamoto wrote "when I saw the little children who ate the cool fruits jellies I brought, I was glad I came here." She brought 205 Crocs too, which were received with approval and ran out soon. Okamoto wrote the sufferer’s name on each Crocs and handed it over to him or her.
Okamoto’s heart seems to have been warmed by the brief contact with people in Ishinomaki-shi. But Okamoto who actually went to the stricken area, Ishinomaki-shi, wrote "Still many places are left alone. We don’t have enough help, though there are too many things to do preferentially. The sorrowful situation is still left," with photos.
And she asked to think what kind of goods will be useful for further support. She asked readers of her blog for ideas for further activities; for instance, she thought "steteco" (men’s summer underpants) will be good for the summer and it’s better to make it by supporter’s own hand to reduce costs. "Unlimited hints are hidden in everyone’s comments"; comments for Okamoto’s blog seems to be support for her activities. She hopes to keep acting to support the stricken areas.
There is no doubt that many people are moved by Okamoto’s activities. Her attitude of keeping thinking "What is really needed now" in the stricken areas is not one-sided volunteer but facing the stricken areas calmly.
In Golden Week, individual volunteers causing traffic jam in the stricken areas became a problem. Like Okamoto who always keeps thinking what should be done now, volunteer must not be compulsion and calm judgment is needed.
