The singer Fukuyama Masaharu told on a radio program that he had talked with the actor Kiyoshi Kodama, who passed away on May 16, for about two hours in the hospital. He said, “We had pleasant time”; what had he talked about with Mr. Kodama?

At the end of the radio program “SUZUKI Talking F.M. by Fukuyama Masaharu” on May 22, Fukuyama told about the memories of the late Mr. Kodama.

Recently he got an opportunity to talk with Mr. Kodama in the hospital. They chatted about the memories in their first co-acting drama “Beauty or the Beast” (2003) and the last year’s saga drama “Ryoma-den (The life of Ryoma)”. In addition, Mr. Kodama worried about Fukuyama and asked, “What are you want to do about your marriage?”

Having such a time for about two hours, he said, “I enjoyed talking.” Fukuyama remembered how he was at that time: “His condition was well. I expected he would recover and appear again as a MC in front of us.”

He described the actor Kiyoshi Kodama: “He was like a child; stubborn but incredulous about himself. He was a performer always thinking “what is the best way” and trying to improve.”

Now Mr. Kodama had passed away but Fukuyama said, “Even though his body had departed this life, his works and soul as a performer are still here.” However he also said: “Honestly, I can’t feel this real. I’ll be with sadness coming gradually from now on.”

He revealed, “Still I’m selfishly thinking he is like my father”; Mr. Kiyoshi Kodama had acted the role of Fukuyama’s father in Ryoma-den.

For the ending of the program, “Let It Be” by Beatles was played. Fukuyama Masaharu explained the memorie attaching to this track: “I want to say goodbye with the track Mr. Kodama requested to me in the completion party of Beauty or the Beast. He said, ‘I like this song. Would you sing for me?’”

This song had not been in his repertory, so he practiced it to sing for Mr. Kodama. “Let It Be” and its episode are suitable to pay respects to Mr. Kodama Kiyoshi, and impress something like a destiny of the two.
