Hideo Higashikokubaru, a former governor of Miyazaki prefecture, has fought against Shintaro Ishihara and lost in the Tokyo Governor's Election last April. In his blog, he wrote that he now has time to run but he is surely aging little by little.
After the election, he has not been seen on TV, hence he is often asked what he does. Higashikokubaru usually replies, "I have no job", but he writes books or appears on TV occasionally. During the time of 'Sonomanma Higashi', before he became a governor of Miyazaki, he was often seen running on TV, but ever since, he had been so busy and had absolutely no time to exercise or sleep.
He recently started to have time for running, but on June 10, he wrote that he was shocked by the fact that he fell on a street. Some may wonder why is it so shocking, but he in fact "fell on a flat street and rolled 360 degrees". It's not that there was any obstacle on the street. The way he fell caught people's attention. Higashikokubaru himself got surprised by it, and he had no idea what was going on. He had never experienced anything like this before and he was shocked by the fact that his motor reflex is aging more than he thought. He used to run marathon and was confident in his exercise skills, but he is now 53 year old and cannot avoid aging.
If is often seen in old people fracturing their bones when they fall and try to support with their dominant hand. Yoshizumi Ishihara is only 48 year old, but he is training himself to use his left hand in case he injures his dominant right hand. Higashikokubaru, who injured his right hand remembered Ishihara's story and felt empathy for it.
