Takushi Tanaka of Ungirls is a huge fan of Yoshikazu Ebisu. A few years ago, Tanaka was in career crisis and it was then when he had a conversation with Ebisu in a magazine. He introduced the episode on June 17 during 'Hitoshi Matsumoto's ○○ Story' (Fuji TV).
Tanaka is attracted to Ebisu's public images as 'bold', 'insensitive' and 'no common sense'. When you think of Ungirls from few yaers ago, you may come up with their posing while singing 'Janga Janga♪'. They started to become popular among young girls and appeared on TV frequently. However, when it comes to Manzai or talking, Tanaka could not perform well at all. He started to get so scared for becoming popular while he cannot make any funny comments as a comediain.
It was when he had a conversation with Ebisu. He confessed his distress to Ebisu. Ebisu thought for a while and started to talk about his own experience. He used to write cartoons in a boating magazine and mahjong magazine. One time, he thought he was not able to make the deadline for both of them, however, he finally managed to finish them. But he was in such hurry, he has sent his boating cartoon to the mahjong magazine and the mahjong cartoon to the boating magazine. It was a few days later when he realized his mistake, but neither of the magazines noticed it and both cartoons were printed and sold at bookstores. Nobody said anything to him after all.
"So I came to the conclusion that people aren't paying attention to you as much as you think and the same thing can be said to you". This Ebisu's advice has made Tanaka feel so much better and since then he started to sleep well. However, this advice also had a downside. He started to have an attitude of 'Nobody sees me anyway', his work load started to decrease. The moral of the story is you should never stop making efforts.
