'Ranking Doesn't Matter!' Comments For Tomomi Itano

On June 9, the 3rd Annual AKB48 Election was held in Nihon Budokan which has created many dramas. Tomomi Itano, who was one of the '7 Goddess', was ranked in the 8th this year. She was in the 4th ranking last year. Itano has released a solo CD and appears on commercials. Is it related to the result of the election? She was certainly shocked by the result.

After the election, she wrote a simple message in her blog. "Thank you so much, and I am sorry for not being able to respond to your support. I'll keep trying my best". Many people could see her bitter feelings and got worried about her.

This blog entry got over 20,000 comments. "The result is not everything", "You are my #1 forever", "Ranking doesn't matter!" and many other comments to support her. Itano's fans don't care about the ranking. She is making a lot of effort by performing solo and everything else.

On June 11, Itano again uploaded her blog. She seemed to have moved by the warm comments from her fans. She wrote, "Thank you so much for your comments. It was a nice surprise." She regained some energy by those comments and the hand shaking event in Nagoya. She felt that she was cared a lot by her fans. She ended the entry saying "Please don't worry about me, I am doing great. I truly feel your love."

People tend to get hung up when they are ranked, but it is important to remember the path and effort to get there. It's only a number, and it does not deny your individuality or colors. Itano has her own charms. Her fans know that it cannot be scaled by raking.
