Michael Jackson memorial event will be held on his death day in cinemas in Japan

Michael Jackson Official Fan Club Japan announced that there is a memorial event of the late Michael Jackson who died last June. This year, this event will also be held as a charity for the Japan Earthquake.

Michael Jackson Official Fan Club Japan has planned the memorial event since last winter. With the cooperation of TOHO Cinemas, Hibiya Kadan and so on, the event is decided to be held as an all night event from the night of Michael’s death day, June 25 to the next morning.

In his lifetime, Michael Jackson had been registered on the Guinness Book as “a popstar who had supported the most charitable societies (39 societies)”. In according with this intension, this event will be held as a charity for the Japan Earthquake happened in this March.

The event will start at 10 o’clock in the night on 25 (Sat.) simultaneously in the four sites: Odaiba Cinema Mediage (Tokyo), TOHO Cinemas Tsushima (Aichi), TOHO Cinemas Itan (Hyogo) and TOHO Cinemas Hikari-no Mori (Kumamoto). All the cinemas will be reserved for only this event; the total number of the seats is 8,379.

In this event, at first two movies related to Michael, “This Is It” and “Moonwalker” will be shown. Next is a present lottery for Michael’s own handwriting goods. In addition, the memorial event will start from 6 o’clock in the morning, having to do the time of confirmation of Michael’s death, JST 6:26 a.m.; flower-offering, silent tribute and chorus of Michael’s song by every participants are in the program. Also, in the sites there is a special exhibition of mementos related to Michael which have never been made public.

The entry fee of this event is 4,500 Yen for an advance ticket and additional 500 Yen for service charge; the tickets are sold exclusively by Family Mart all over Japan. Also, tickets at the door are available at each site of TOHO cinemas, which price is 5,500 Yen. For one ticket one flower for offering will be given at the site.

Advance tickets have been sold at e+ (e-plus) by Fami Port in Family Mart since 10 a.m. on June 10. You can see the details of the event on the special website.
